> well there is an open source driver for nvidia cards..however its not sponsored by nvidia nor do they have anything to do with it. Plus, the open source driver gives crappy hardware accelleration. I dont mind ati (sadly i have to use intel cards on my systems..but hey intels drivers are open source too), but the fact that companies like ATI are starting to support opensource now is just fantastic to hear. Hopefully other vendors like Nvidia will follow

Thanks for the link. My ATi 4850 is working fine with proprietary driver
but I would love to see open driver at work.
