mp3gain works, vorbisgain does nothing

Ubuntu Users,

In my music collection, I have mostly MP3 files, but some OGG Vorbis
files as well. As I'm sure is the case with many people, since I
gathered my music from a variety of sources, the sound levels vary a
lot. Since I usually play all my music in one big random mix, I wanted
to equalize them all toward a general standard level of loudness.

For the MP3 files, I ran this command, which worked like a charm:
find -name *mp3 -exec mp3gain -r -k {} \;

(Note that I ran it in the root folder where I keep all my music:
/home/dave/music )

All my MP3 files are now playing at levels close enough that I can
happily play them all together without fiddling with the volume.

However, a similar command for the OGG files has done nothing:
find -name *ogg -exec vorbisgain -r {} \;

I checked the man page for vorbisgain to make sure I have the right
options and I think I do. The output from the program shows it making
adjustments to each song:
Analyzing files...
   Gain | Peak | Scale | New Peak | Track
----------+--------+-------+----------+------
 +4.61 dB |  10675 |  1.70 |    18150 |
./music/e/The_Electric_Monks/Forever_And_Ever_Skamen/Beam_Me_Up_Scotty.ogg

But when I play the OGG files back in Amarok, they are clearly way out
of line with each other, and with the MP3 files.

If anyone has experience with levelling their music files, can you let
me know what, if anything, I might be doing wrong?

The ultimate aim is to get the OGG files to be at a level close to the
default levels that mp3gain has set my MP# files to.

Thank you for any advice.
