100GB will depend on your network bandwidth. SSH will slow the transfer
down a bit, due to the encryption. You can add a --progress flag to see
the transfer rates.

gparted is used to partition the disk. It also has full ext2/ext3
filesystem support for creating new filesystems on the partition.
