Is installing drivers necessary?

For some hardware there are additional non-free drivers available that
are not installed by default (e.g. Nvidia and AMD graphic cards)

Intel drivers ate usually free and installed by default. 9.04 has some
problems with Intel graphics cards but if it works for you that's
fine.
