We would need more detail on what you want to back up.  If it's multiple
systems through a server to the seagate then amanda (or similar) is in
order.  If it's just your own system then just depends on personal
preference.  I simply partition my data apart from the OS and then
backup specific config files.  For me this process gets my rebuilds down
to a little under an hour.
