XviD-WPi - What to do?

Generally speaking, you have to be able to play it to transcode it for
a DVD. So if you can't even watch it you are at step zero.
I've never looked at one, but 'wpi' according to wikipedia is some
sort of windows installation tool which would make me pretty leery of
it, especially if you got it off an unofficial torrent.
You could try running the 'file' command against it to see if it
identifies it better. e.g. file torrent.xvid.wpi
Unless someone else has more info about these 'wpi' files, I'd go look
for a regular avi/mov/divx/xvid
