Problem with Nautilus network:/// sftp:/// trash:///

Hello All,

I am not sure at what point I screwed up, but I definitely have at some
point.
I run Jaunty from a USB disk and keep the system up to date.

The problem is that I cannot connect to any server from nautilus. When I
select the option in the file menu all I get is a "custom location" in the
service type. If I try to type in the location bar I get a message saying
that nautilus cannot handle "network" or "sftp" or "trash". Quite annoying.

So far I tried:
to launch from the terminal to see if some error messages were popping up
but I have none.
to launch nautilus as root, and still the problem persists.
to reinstall nautilus
Also, (I do not know if this is relevant), but I use awn and the places
applet (which should show the places as in nautilus) is out of synch.

Although I have a separate /home partition I would hate to have to
re-install.

Any suggestion?

Cheers,

Michele
