Try installing the restricted codecs.

System -> Administation -> Synaptic Package Manager

Settings -> Repositories

click the Third-Party Software tab

check Medibuntu repo

Close

click Reload

search "non-free-codecs"

right click "non-free-codecs" and "Mark for Installation"

click Apply

Close Synaptic

Try to play your CD now (Rhythmbox will due to test)

Once we know you have the codecs to play the music we can help if their
are any further issues.  Hope this helps.
