Because of the complexity of your question, and the unusual high amount of
details you have given ;-), I suggest that you use VirtualBox. Not the OSE
edition but the Personal Use and Evaluation License (PUEL) version.
I find VirtualBox a very elegant virtualisation for the desktop.

Second choice: Vmware.
A bit more bulky, but it claims more features than VirtualBox. You will
use none of these features if you are only going to take screenshots of
Windows apps.
However if you are doing hardware consolidation (running more than one
virtual server on one physical server) then Vmware is one of your weapons
of choice.

Third choice: Virtualbox OSE. Same as the PUEL version, but without usb
support and a few little other features that you won't use if you only
take screenshots of windows apps.

There are a few more virtualization solutions, but these don't have a nice
gui. Ask or google if you want to know about them.


You can also use Wine. It's not virtualisation or emulation, but a
windows-compatible environment that runs inside Linux.
