Problems using live CD on new machine

I had the same issue and after burning 15 CDs (I mean it) and trying countless suggestions, the problem was fixed by burning Verbatim CD. I actually tried to replicate this with other brands and it failed consistently so I am convinced the fix is Verbatim CD at 20 X speed (burning)

Actually, I tried that too.  I'm now convinced that it's just faulty.
