No external mic on Acer TM 6292

Dear Linux-users!

I've got a problem on my Acer Travelmate 6292: i'm using Ubuntu 8.10 and I
can't record anything using the external mic (the integrated works well, but
i need to plug-in an external microphone).
Does anyone has any solution...?
