I most certainly did not.  And you're missing the point - virtualbox
allows you to install XP (or another OS) inside of a virtual machine.
Read that again carefully: "inside of a *virtual* machine".  In other
words, it cannot modify anything related to grub because it is
installed into it's own happy little sandbox where it cannot mess with
the currently installed and running system.
