Actually I am glad that the whole AV thing came up because it got me
thinking again after 3 years of brain death ie 2 of them using Wonders
in internet cafes and a year on my Xandros eeepc the only Linux I ever
used not installed by me. And I usually build my own boxes but a
netbook/notebook is way beyond my capability of course.

I follow Rick Moen on a LUG list that is populated by some heavyweight
admin types. Being just a desktop user I mostly just lurk there and
observe Rick demolishing the opposition mostly. He does lose the odd
joust but not many. The list is Linux Users Victoria (LUV) if you are
interested. It is a user list but has quite a few professional admins
posting about issues within their provenance.

Best thing I've done in those 3 years was trash the Xandros install in
favour of eeebuntu which does seem to be Ubuntu with optimisations for
the 3e. Good to be back with the living.
