Thunderbird selected message

Hi all,

I would like suppress the Thunderbird function who make display into the 
mail list the selected mail displayed in the display panel (F8) because 
I received lot of mails and with this function I don't see my new 
messages on top of the list.

I checked the Thunderbird advanced setup but I don't see any special 
setup for this.

Is it possible to modify this behavior of Thunderbird ?
