It's my humble opinion, but before that you should "master" ubuntu:
- Ubuntu's websites
- Ubuntu's technical tricks (packaging, admin,...)
- Write some Ubuntu oriented documentation
- ...

After that, you will automagically be "famous" about Ubuntu and then 
become an "ambassador".
I think without a minimum mastering the Ubuntu system it's nearly 
unbelievable.
