We use RIP (Rescue Is Possible) Linux to boot systems and image using 
partimage. I don't know anything more about your setup so I can't give 
more details, but if you're interested, feel free to ask and I'll help 
with details if I can.

I don't know if the Ubuntu boot CD has partimage or not.
