There are many options but what is appropriate depends on your needs.
LedgerSMB <http://ledgersmb.org/>, which is a fork of the to be avoided
SQLLedger, OpenERP <http://www.openerp.com/>, and opentaps
<http://www.opentaps.org/index.php> are a few that have not been
mentioned yet.
