Have you considered using wicd ipo network manager? I don't know about
total sent/received byte and activity signal feature but as soon as I
blew out network manager and replaced it with wicd, I no
longer have wireless connection issues whether the wired
card is connected or not. If you just want something better
than NM, wicd is a good option. HTH.
