Is there an off line version of Wikipedia?

If you want the search engine, you will have to download the database
dumps from (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_download), set
up a web server with PHP, mysql, and the MediaWiki software.  It is much
easier to use the static pages and look up things in the index.
