change from edubuntu to ubuntu 8.04

Thank you very much, I will try this. Unfortunately, I now find that the
mouse pointer will not respond (apparently there was a power failure
which switched everything off and, on re-booting, the pointer will not
move). The light is on in the mouse so I assume the fault must be
somewhere within Ubuntu. Have you any idea on how I should correct this,
please.
