how to show only dvd or cd icons on desktop

Pardon my ignorance, which exact applet are you talking about? I am not
at the machine right now, but I did a google search but I am not able to
see what you mean here.
I did an apt-search on media manager but couldn't find much. Could you
be a bit more specific?

Please reply to this list only. I read this list on its corresponding
newsgroup on gmane.org. Replies sent to my email address are just
filtered to a folder in my mailbox and get periodically deleted without
