Bittorrent problems

Hi,
Here's the problem... Transmission tells me I've only been able to download 34 
MB of this torrent I've been downloading for ages yet the activiy info in the 
Connection Properties window tells me I've received 928 MB. There were no 
other significant downloads during the period I've been monitoring the traffic 
but I've noticed quite a few tcp retransmission entries in wireshark's ouput. 
What could be causing this?
