Try Google in this way:

Then follow a link to a mailing list thread that interests you. When the
archived posting is displayed, use the link "Messages sorted by:
[ thread ]" to see the whole thread and read it from the beginning.
Another option would be gmane, a mailing-list-to-newsgroup gateway and
mailing list archive. It has a good search facility, here is a link to a
search (note that you need to enter the mailing list's name according to
gmane's hierarchy)

Again, it's probably best to follow a link to an interesting post, then
click the post's subject to see the whole thread.
