Vlc won't play DVD's on Ubuntu, or Kubuntu Intrepid

    This sounds like a problem not with the codex but with the actual 
VLC software. Or it is not being read of the DVD properly. I would 
remove the current VLC software and reload it. My 8.10 with Gnome works 
just fine.
