Problem with home directory

Hi

Since about 2 weeks I have a big problem accessing my home directory. Every 
application (file manager, emacs, firefox, konsole eg ls ~ ...) that wants to 
access the listing of my home dir, stalls for several minutes. This problem 
does not exist for any other directory.

I do not have a big file in home, and their is 15% free disk space.

Another problem, perhaps related to the previous problem, is that printing 
takes also a real long time (minutes before I get a printer selection from 
cups).
