Problems with suspend on a fresh install

hrm.. :\  i need to get this laptop back to its owner soon.  of course,
it would be nice if it could resume from suspend and hibernate properly.

there must be someplace i can initiate a script upon resume, or some
other way to issue the "vbetool post" command upon resume.  does anyone
have any ideas?

also, in case i can't get this resolved in time, how can i disable
resume and hibernate and remove those options from the shutdown list?
