Grub Update Question...

update-grub should fix the mbr and restore the menu.  If it doesn't, then your grub config files have been modified and you will may want to consider reinstalling grub. This link will provide you all the information you need: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#Reinstalling%20GRUB%202
