installing Mythtv 0.21

Oh, I see now-:o)  What version are you using on the backend master 
machine.  If it is Karmic, the proper version should be there; not
sure about the earlier versions.  Update and check if the master
on the that machine is the proper version. If not, you may be able
to find a ppa for it.
