it came out of my mind based on my understanding of what is stable and
what is not stable.  if, after an upgrade, my graphics no longer perform
well, that is not stable.  additionally, if my encrypted partition is no
longer bootable after an upgrade, that is not stable.  see also the many
other unstable items that are pushed out with each release.
