Compiz now refuses to show four desktop pictures

Two possibilities - one that the cdrom that contains your HH files is
not mounting correctly., or aptitude is looking in the wrong place
(wrong mountpoint). Or, it is possible that the media is dirty, since
there is the complaint about the hash sum mismatch.

The easiest fix (if you have sufficient bandwidth) is to comment the
entry for the cdrom in your /etc/apt/sources.lst file by inserting a #
at the beginning of the line, save & exit, then rerun aptitude update.
Then aptitude will use the Net sources rather than the cdrom when
installing software. Then you can redo the install for
build-essential.
