Evolution Email sending mail problem in Ubuntu 8.10

I am not able to send mail with Evolution Email Program. I have set 
incoming server to IMAP and outgoing to SMTP. I can read mail but when i 
send a mail it just goes and seats in outbox. When i try to close 
Evolution mail, I get message that "Unsent message"
