I have a 9.10 machine that I am using as a virtual machine host for a
Windos XP instance. This machine is mounted in a rack, in an equipment
room. The machines in this rack share a KVM. I have the X session that
hosts VirtualBox coming up on a spare virtual TTY.

The problem is, if I reboot either the host machine, or even that
VirtualBox, and that peice of hardware is not displaying on the KVM. X
comes up in a very low resolution/color config. In years past the
resolution, and color depth was specifed in te`he Xserver config file, but
these days it seems to get auto detected, when X starts up.

Is there a way I can make X revert to the old behavior, so that I can
safetly remote reboot this machine?
