flash applets stop working after loading another page

I notice a big improvement over the flash plugin I downloaded from adobe
compared to the broken flash-nonfree.  The applet looks much nicer
inside firefox - basically just like watching flash on a Windows box.  I
mean the control buttons on the flash vid look better.

Flash version upgrade or what, I'm not sure.
