updates

I'm running 8.04 server (64bit). I know from past versions that when a
kernel update occurs, certain components like nvidia drivers have had to be
updated manually.
I've got nvidia, flash, and virtualbox (that i know of at the moment) that I
installed separately.
What I'm wondering is if there is a way to setup scripts of some type to
perform these updates when a kernel update occurs, since it doesn't occur
often enough
for me to remember each painstaking step I went through to get these
separate updates running to begin with.

Has anyone put thought to how to do this efficiently?

Thanks, as always for the input...

Regards

Jack
