For me personally, boot times matter for netbooks, or more precisely:
anything based on the Intel Atom processor.
And if you ever want a Linux that will be used in the automotive industry,
you'd better have boot times of 2 seconds or less.
Canonical aims to have an Ubuntu that boots in 10 seconds by 10.4.
If you don't agree, send your complaints to Canonical. And read this:

And I wouldn't be surprised if the announced Google Chrome OS will have
similar boot times.
