Mouse features?

Well the basic functions of this mouse work just fine, the left and
right buttons along with the scroll wheel do just as they're expected to
do.  It's just that there are 2 additional buttons that don't seem to
work in all the programs that I use.  I guess I'm  going to have to
write my own program that mimics the Intellipoint software so that when
the side buttons are pressed I can make it appear to the computer that a
key on the keyboard has been pressed.  That's the specific function I am
trying to regain...
