You're in for a treat.  Using MS products for servers is like using a
compact car to move a bedroom set - it's just not meant for that : )

With linux and GNU software, the possibilities are almost limitless.
Home vpns, remote data access, remote login ... so many neat things
that are expensive or impossible in windoze.
