I have an everex cloudbook with hardy herron on it (OEM).
I removed gnome, and other bloat, use ion3, use mutt for e-mail, and it
works well.

One invaluable tidbit to know when using these little thingies is that
alt-leftmouseclick on a window will allow you to move the window without
accessing the window decoration bar when using a gui DE. Just grab the
window anywhere with the alt-leftmousebutton, and you can move the
window around.
Since I mostly use terminal apps and ion3 (tabbed/tiling wm), I don't
use this feature now, but when I first got the little cloudbook, it was
invaluable. Mousing around on that tiny screen with the little mousepad
thingy was just too annoying for me, so I eventually configured it so I
can do 99% of anything I need without ever touching the mouse (thus ion3
and mostly terminal apps). I realize that such a configuration would
not be useful to the vast majority of people buying these little
machines, but it works great for me.
I mostly got the thing just to have remote access to e-mail and my main
box in my office, and then ended up getting an LG Env with e-mail
access, anyway, so I haven't used the cloudbook much lately, but it's a
cute little machine.
