 B,

My understanding is No, but will have to check because IBM was designing
the PowerPC chip to work for both desktop and RISC implementations. It
would be about date of release, etc. RS6000 runs AIX, IBM Unix version,
but they have totally configurable options, which for this machine,
stripped out the video drivers, so have to use TTY via COM1 to get into
the box. I was not getting anything at first, but had recovery CD, which
I had to boot with.

Someone else suggested I look at the Debian for POWERpc, to see if it
will boot, so will download and test. Also have a copies of the
SMallLinux and a couple other stripped version, which might go better on
this box, but will check. I did see, that someone was able to load U on
one of these boxes, per a posting I found in the forum.

Will keep trying.

Thanks!

Forgive me, but isn't an RS6000 a Power PC box? I would think you'd
have better luck with Debian frankly...

What exactly have you tried, and what is your problem you need help
  with right now? No video?
