Is THAT was was assumed of me?
No I didn't use a live CD.  I formatted the whole hard drive and started
from an empty drive.
I downloaded the .iso file from one of the sites and burned a CD from it.
Same with the Edubuntu counterpart which was a little trickier to find and -
I never got to use it.
