Html Hyperlinks

I have Ubuntu 8.04 and I am creating a mock Knowledge Base with articles 
in different file formats a create a hyperlink to 
///home/user/folder/file and I click on the link and get a 'file not 
found error'.  Any ideas?

I have tried /home/user/folder/file and /folder/file and got the same 
results. I checked the help and official documentation site and the file 
system is correct.


It seems that '/' = root and that home = file system.

I also tried files with no spaces in the name as per w3c.
