New to Ubuntu( Virus scanners) is clam safe/Avg free errors can not open all files?

you can also try using Avast or Avira , I had better success with
Avira it caught a phishing virus on my windows
partition where Avast didnt see it. you can use these in linux against
the windows partition if necessary. The thing
with clamav is for checking emails but i rely on gmail to do that.
