Upgrade problems?

I have started upgrading my laptop from 8.10 to 9.04.  It's not going 
all that well.  It stops with errors and is really slow to download. 
Then it appears to finish but nothing has really been upgraded.  If I 
run Update Manager again, it shows 9.04 upgrade still available.

Is this normal for an upgrade?  Could it be that there are just too many 
folks trying to upgrade today?
