Well, it's in the postinst script, so you can always
edit /var/lib/dpkg/info/netatalk.postinst, and put in any kind of debugging
code you want, then try to run that script (with sudo).

If it becomes apparent that there isn't anything done in the script that is
absolutely necessary, you can always just delete the script completely -
then you are guaranteed that the install will complete, but obviously some
step will be omitted.
