Innacurate/No Drive Size Readings, Untidy Mounting

It's cool thanks
Am annoyed by the untidyness tho: do the two drives that are mounted on the
desktop have to be there to allow access in /mnt?
why do I get no accurate freespace readings?
why does 1 drive seem to have shrunk to 3 Gig?????
