modules on x86/x86_64

whatever the second command returns, then install that package, like i
have linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24-23-generic installed which provides
the atheros drivers.  it should have been installed by default.  give it
a go, if it doesnt work, you may have to install backport modules, but
we'll save that for another post.

ps.  post replies below what anyone says ok, makes things easier to read
for everyone else now and later in archives.
