I'd strongly recommend rolling this out as a change in, say, a lab, or a 
few classrooms first. You may be surprised at the pushback you get with 
such a change.

People tend to be very hostile to any change, not necessarily because 
it's not Windows (although you will probably get that since students and 
teachers will go home and do things that will "confuse" them when they 
come back into the classroom) but because it's just "Different".

You may end up with kids and teachers equating their tiny "frustrations" 
with the word "kubuntu" or "linux".
