firefox emulating IE

It largely depends on what exactly the site does to check what browser
you're using.

The second thing I'd try would be the User Agent Switcher extension for
Firefox which helps making Firefox send arbitrary user agent strings
with the request (among them those of IE):

It's a quite simple "solution" if they just check the UA strings.

The first thing I'd do is ask myself whether the site is really worth
visiting. Trying to exclude particular browsers from accessing a site is
very poor design at best and simply brain-dead at worst.
