USB Hub not working after updates

Could very well be that something in the update is having an issue with
a marginal USB port. Open Synaptic & list the history of the updates
between when it last worked and when it stopped. Also, try moving to a
different USB port; USB ports are notorious for noise, so try it on a
back port if you are now using a front port on a desktop etc. & check
your /var/log/dmesg/kern logs to see if you can detect something there.
