Printing in Ubuntu 8.04

What kinds of errors do the CUPS logs show? What does CUPS say is going 
on if you bring up its web admin page http://localhost:631/admin  At 
work we have the hp6940 shared over samba as it is connected to a 
windows machine and it works fine. You could try modifying the printer 
under cups and see if you have more than one driver choice, most do. 
Also you could try unistalling and reinstalling from the admin 
interface. I would start by reading the logs cups has a directory in 
/var/log
